| It is with great sadness that Diane and I must announce the death of our beloved Manford. He was a wonderful horse that gave us many hours of enjoyment – whether in the show ring or what he liked best – just being a horse. Manford did it all – breeding to get forty babies, a long list of AQHA victories and more importantly, our ‘tutor’ – upon whom we depended to teach the babies proper barn manners and our friend. He will be greatly missed. He will live on in our hearts and through two of his daughters living at Whispering Pines – Quite Simply Magic and Dee Bars Just Magic. Manford was born with a hole in his diaphragm. It is a tribute to his dedication and work ethic that he was as successful and happy as he was, considering how this condition would have affected his breathing. We did not know of this condition until his intestine twisted into the hole a few weeks ago. After two major surgeries, he died of complications on March 24, 2001. Our thanks to Dr. Cruz and the staff at the University of Guelph, Large Animal Section. We are considering setting up a fund in Manford’s memory to further research in the equine gastro-intestinal field. John & Diane Young |
