Whispering Pines Equestrian Estates moved to Port Colborne on April 7, 2006. We were at 2005 Hansler St. Ridgeville for eight years and cared for 24 horses there. We moved to our new facility and have 20 horses here. We are still a family run stable, we still breed registered Quarter Horses and Paints and offer boarding. Our indoor arena is 60' X 120' and we have an outdoor sand round pen and a full-sized grass dressage area for riding.
Port Colborne is a pretty, friendly town with lots going on. Port Colborne became an incorporated village in 1870 and contained about 1200 inhabitants. Cultivated farm land in the Township was worth from $40.00 to $60.00 per acre. The greater portion of the soil was loam. The Welland Canal projected in the year 1818, by the late William H. Merritt and commenced in 1824, cut through the western portion of the township; and the village of Petersburg and Port Colborne were situated on it

There are many riding trails in the area. There are trails along the canal, through clay roads, fields and quiet country roads. There is a new trail that goes all the way to Wainfleet called "The Wainfleet Rail Trail". The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority developed this multi-use recreational trail along the former Grand Trunk Railway Corridor in the Township of Wainfleet. The 12 kilometre stretch of abandoned railway line was purchased by the Township of Wainfleet in 1985, and subsequently transferred to the Conservation Authority in December 2004 for the development of a trail.
The corridor is managed as a wildlife corridor of linear greenspace and multi-use trail, surfaced with limestone screenings. The trail is used by walkers, cyclists, horse riders and nature enthusiasts. Motorized vehicles are not permitted on this trail. The corridor passes nearby four Conservation Areas: Wainfleet Wetlands, Wainfleet Bog, Morgan's Point and Long Beach. The official opening of the trail was on June 12, 2006 at Quarry Road.
There are also many places to swim with your horse, a very popular one is at Port Abino beach, going in at the public boat ramp. You can ride in the water way out past the moored sailboats without having to have your horse swim. Port Colborne is a wonderful place to live. |

This is a typical family scene at Whispering Pines - in the foreground is See-See with Tori and Hercules sharing a snack. Our stallion paddock currently holds a typical 'mustang' herd: the dominant mare (Tori), two subordinate mares (Misty & Dancer) plus their three foals.
It is a tribute to See Ya Sierra's disposition that this actually works. |

These are two of our dogs - Riley (lying down) is a King Shepherd while Sparky is a German Shepherd. |
